Scholarship
The South Carolina United States Bowling Congress to further interest in youth bowling in South Carolina, as well as sportsmanship and good fellowship, and in the interest of a better education for our young people, do hereby present scholarships as mentioned in the following information to eligible students.
1 – THE SCHOLARSHIP
A. Each scholarship shall be for one year. The amount shall be determined annually in October, and awarded at the annual state championships tournament in the spring by the South Carolina United States Bowling Congress Youth Committee. The Scholarship shall be paid directly to the accredited institution of choice at the time of the recipient’s registration at said institution.
B. The request for scholarship funds shall be for attendance to any accredited institution of higher learning.
C. The recipient shall notify the South Carolina United States Bowling Congress USBC Youth Committee Secretary as to the institution of attendance.
D. The scholarship funds awarded will be sent to the United States Bowling Congress SMART Program for the distribution of the funds. The SMART program will contact each bowler with information on how to receive the funds and other requirements.
E. If the recipient receives a full four year scholarship from any other organization or institution, then the recipient will be ineligible to receive this scholarship.
F. Scholarships shall be awarded for accumulated point total of 70 points or above.
G. In the event the scholarship winner becomes ineligible or disqualified the next highest individual will be awarded the Scholarship.
2 – Eligibility
Any graduating senior high school student is eligible to receive this scholarship providing the student meets the following requirements.
A. Files an application furnished by the Scholarship Committee (or you can down load the application on this site) giving complete information as required thereon, before March 15 of the graduating year, with the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee.
B. Has maintained amateur standing in all athletics.
C. Is a member of a league sanctioned in South Carolina by the United States Bowling Congress, and is in good standing for the current season.
3 – Grading System
A. SCHOLARSHIP EVALUATION – 50 Points
1. SAT Score – 20 Points
2. Grade Point Average – 20 Points
3. Class Rank – 10 Points
B. Bowling – 50 Points
